Jerry Rutledge founded his eponymous store 51 years ago in downtown Colorado Springs. Today, it is considered one of the finest men’s stores in the Rocky Mountain States, with a reputation for carrying a well-edited selection of the best menswear collections. Jerry has recently opened a second location in the legendary Broadmoor Hotel.

Jerry Rutledge has too many clients who have restaurants to select just one as his favorite, so he falls back on Prime 25 and the many dining choices at The Broadmoor, from the elegant, five-star Penrose Room to the La Taverne steak, chops, and seafood restaurant. Colorado Springs has been the home of the United States Olympic Committee and Training Center since 1978. The United States Olympic Museum will join it next year, only a few blocks away. The 60,000-square-foot building will embody the forward-looking values of Team USA and the experience of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, with 20,000 square feet of highly interactive exhibition space designed by famed architectural firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro.

PIKES PEAK COG RAILWAY
In July 1893, Katharine Lee Bates wrote the song “America the Beautiful”, after being inspired by the view from the top of Pikes Peak. The mountain looms 8,000 feet above downtown Colorado Springs and is a designated National Historic Landmark. Jerry Rutledge highly recommends taking the most scenic route up to the summit on the 3 hour, 9 mile trip on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway

THE BROADMOOR
Known as “The Grand Dame of the Rockies”, the Broadmoor is celebrating it’s centennial this year. The hotel is inextricably linked to not only Colorado Springs, but also to the Rutledge family. Jerry’s wife grew up three blocks away with the great-granddaughter of Spencer and Julie Penrose, the hotel’s founders. The 3,000 acre grounds of the hotel were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr., son of the designer of Central Park and an accomplished landscape architect in his own right.
